Photography

I co-author JENRIKS, the world’s longest running daily photo blog (since the beginning of 2006). Taking photos has been the most permanent hobby in my life – I enjoy the meditative and quiet solitude of going on photo walks.

In 2025, I also finally want to manage to host my own gallery exhibition. Here’s my portfolio of current favorites, from which I intend to chose some for the show.

Classic Cars

I own a 1976 BMW 2002, lovingly dubbed “Liesel” after my late grandmother, which I restored myself and with the help of various small businesses. Driving it on warm and sunny days is a wonderful sensory experience.

Running

I really got into running in my 30’s, and now enjoy training for long distances. After two half marathons in 2018 and 2022, I just ran my first ever marathon here in Chicago in 2023, feeling extremely proud to have met my goal of finishing in under 4 hours.

Music

Playing instruments was my biggest passion during my childhood and teenage years. After journeys through classical piano, jazz trumpet, and base guitar, my musical career culminated as the drummer for a funk band in college. We wrote and performed our own music, and remained friends ever since!

Books

I’m a non-fiction book worm. Psychology and Management are probably my top genres. Some recent favorites include ’Radical Candor’ by Kim Scott, ‘Thinking, Fast and Slow’ by Daniel Kahneman, and this fictional guilty pleasure: ‘I Hope This Finds You Well’ by Natalie Sue (so ridiculous and funny!).
